“Life cannot defeat a writer who is in love with writing – for life itself is a writer’s love until death.” Edna Ferber, American novelist and playwright (1885-1968) captures why I write; because I am in love with life and a craft that compels me to put into print the words that are on my heart.
I started writing my sophomore year in high school. It was there I fell in love with poetry, the essay, and the full length story which draws a reader into a world that teaches about life and what we are invited to become. Over the past thirty years I have honed and practiced this craft I love. My material has appeared in nationally published magazines, in book form, and as curriculum for both youth and adults.
But I also have several drawers of unfinished manuscripts that still beckon to be completed. They wait patiently knowing that they give me life and that I will return to them in time—because I have no choice. I guess in the end, I know what Aldous Huxley means when he remarks, “Writers write to influence their readers, their preachers, their auditors, but always, at bottom, to be more themselves.”
Before I leave, if you are interested, my book, Four Seasons of Leadership, is available in Spanish and English in hard back, paper back and e-Book (download) on Kindle, Kindle-for-iPad, Mac, PC and a variety of smartphones. All the links are available here.
Also, my co-authored book on emotional intelligence is available in an e-book. Discovering You: First Steps for Developing Your Emotional Intelligence is available on Amazon (Kindle) and through Westbow Press.
So enjoy the links to the books and articles I have authored and wait patiently for manuscripts longing to be pulled from the file cabinet in my office to get their chance to take form.
